hmm someone voted for "good" hehe.

Well the controls are very annoying and gameplay is to shallow; the campaign lacks to tell a good decent story and to create a bridge between  the eras

Doubt it, after a couple dozen community mods it shouldn't be too bad.

Post by: eoraptor on February 20, 2007, 07:24:57 PM
I doubt that... this thing is a turkey on so many levels... I couldn't even play it on my relatively new machine except at the most graphically crippled levels, and my box is no slouch with a 2.3 ghz chip, 1.25 megs of ram, and 256 meg DDR Nvidia  AGP 8x vid card...

granted, its a year or so behind, but seriously, its still well beyond the minimum requirements for most every other game out there. that's a hurdle that virtually no amount of modding will be able to overcome.

My comp doesn't have a single problem running it :P ,but I have a problem playing it.It is by far the WORST star trek game that I have played.Look at Bridge Commander and Armada, they've been going for years.Legacy has been out how long and its already dieing.

And one major thing that has people going is the Valdore.Shure you can understand why Armada doesn't have them, but why in gods name didn't Bethesda put em into Legacy? They're probably one of the best ships to hit Star Trek and they would've looked sweet in Legacy but no,they have to limit the Romulans in TNG to about 4 ships.

And don't even get me started on the patches.Come on,DICE with Battlefield 2 created a lot of bugs but at least EA know how to make patches.Bethesda however, they have an uncountable amount of bugs and their patches are as usefull as a hairdrier mounted on a Tank.

there's another patch out!>?! i thought there was only one? so how little attention iv given this mod of armada 2.

Post by: Smoerebroed on February 21, 2007, 12:57:46 PM
yes; the new patch is supposed to correct some bugs with the multiplayer, cause the LegaCrap multiplayer is even more worse than that of A2 regarding performance and so;

Post by: |PX|Kern on February 21, 2007, 02:11:31 PM
SUPPOSED to,but they can't even get that right.I've been hearing that it doesn't even sort that problem out,and that it only creates even more bugs than before. And the access violations problem, the patch makes that worse too. Some people who never had those violations are getting loads of them cause of it.I didn't download it cause I never play Legacy anymore.

There still seems to be hope... I'm just afraid that there will be too much n00bing for it to be enjoyable...

There's always n00bing in MMORPGs, but it never ruins a truly awesome gameplay experience. 'Course, I'm using the best MMO of all time, World of Warcraft, as an example...
But, for example, just yesterday I formed a small group of really pathetic players (like myself) and we, using communication and teamwork, went and killed two bosses repeatedly, despite them being several levels plus elite over us. And we only had two casualties out of six attacks and four players.
On the other side, my friend has created a single blood elf female he's running around naked in Alliance (the enemy) territory to **** the really good players off (he can't be attacked by them unless he's in PvP). So far he's entertained in Goldshire (starter town) and Stormwind (uber giant Human city, most important one). Currently, I believe he is headed off to Ironforge, because there are highly visible places where the NPC guards still cannot see you.

hmm you talk about "n00bing" and then in the same sentence about WoW; erm HAHAHA! Since WoW is sooooo popular i think that the chances for "n00bing" whatever "n00bing" is, is fairly high; Like Your example with the naked lass; (no style at all) Leeroy he has style!

I just wonder how popular ST:O will become; if it stays in "THE underground" then i don't think you will see much idiots spamming/trolling around all time; but hey trolls are important two!

Well yeah, there are the truly awesome players to consider as well.  For instance, a friend of mine with a lvl 33 warrior and another guy with a lvl 57 pally held of something like 8 players plus respawning guards at the entrance of the Undercity for something like 20 minutes before they escaped on the bloody zeppelin!

Still, WoW is not like a starship, where teamwork is essential.  In a true-blue starship mmorpg, one n00ber could knock an entire ship off balance.  And, I might add, if they take out the teamwork and the duty required of Starfleet Officers, then I dare say the game won't be worth getting in the first place.

*sigh* even if they had continued development, it still uses a fatally flawed (or maybe just sucky?) engine, so it would have to have been rebuilt from the ground up...

Heh, too bad I don't have a bloody 360.

Lucky for you, the xbox 360 controller is USB and has a microsoft driver...

If you want to play ST:L, I'd really recommend plunking down a few bucks for a generic xbox 360 controller... Windows will install the driver for you and then you're all set :)

Too bad the PS3 LAGS...  It's processor isn't optimized, and the wireless controllers are slower than those of the wii, and even than some for the PS2.

Crap console if you ask me.  Or, at the very least, highly overpriced.

When I tried it, I was disappointed. (maybe also because somehow the version was italian).

Either way, I had really hoped for a sort of Star Fleet Command 4 with a height map, when it was in production. With 3 era's to play in with matchings ships for that era. Instead, the game was very disappointing. Perhaps it would have been more worthwhile if it had larger battles and faster paced action. They'd have done wiser to base it around the dominion wars with large waves of enemies flying through the screen.

No, it was nice to play through once, but bored me quickly.

Mmm, I enjoyed it on the 360...

Though the story was ridiculously illogical and retarded, simply put. I skipped through the dialog halfway through. And I'm tired of seeing the klingons in nearly every game constructing 'mass weapons of destruction'. You know how untrue that is? They're warriors, not cowards like romulans :P

Yeah anyway, I'm about obtain a copy of ST:L for the computer, because I read up on a mod out there that fixes alot with the controls and gives you a great amount of ships in the process, so I'll be playing it... but certainly not for the campaign or the broken multiplay. I'm a skirmish guy.

I decided against buying Legacy after all the dodgy reviews. To be honest Bridge Commander was far superior, even though the graphics are obviously much less impressive. It takes much more than pretty textures to make a game enjoyable. Although, if I were to give one criticism of Bridge Commander, it's the constant, irritating voice of Martha Hacket as the first officer. She played Ensign Seska in Voyager, and although she was hot stuff, I think I'd wear ear plugs during sex.  How did I get onto that? Oh my. It's all downhill from here.
