Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: |PX|Kern on December 30, 2006, 06:54:04 PM I was thinking a lot about this and I just wanted to ask if it would be possible to put evasive manoeuvres into FO.What I'm thinking is that this could be a standard special weapon equiped on all ships. When your ship gets in trouble and it is taking one hell of a pounding you could switch this on and your ship would be able to dodge incoming fire.Of course, make it use a lot of special energy so it can only be used a little bit at a time.
Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: Optec on December 30, 2006, 11:03:12 PM The Sabre Class already has a passive ability called so :)
Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: |PX|Kern on December 30, 2006, 11:39:17 PM I know it does but isn't that for torpedos?I mean like actually have it where you activate it,the ship dodges all or about 50% of the fire targeting the ship and then the energy runs out leaving the ship completely open to enemy fire.If you wanted to make Destroyers more usefull or build worthy then you could fit this to Destroyers only.

Destroyers do need some bonus to set them above simple cannon fodder... Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: Tyler on January 12, 2007, 09:53:14 AM The stock A2 Formation where vessels dart around would be useful for that, maybe adding it to destroyers only?
Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: RedShirt on January 15, 2007, 08:14:07 PM Better yet, something resembling the 'director's cut' option from A1...
Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: Acidpunk on January 18, 2007, 01:36:50 AM Directors cut is impossible thanks to mad doc
as for Cannon fodder i win practically all of my MP games or used to just using Bops so they arent pure cannon fodder :) Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: Tyler on January 18, 2007, 10:08:59 AM I've always wondered, What in the name of Brolly is 'Director's Cut'?
Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: RedShirt on January 18, 2007, 03:17:49 PM In Armada 1, the 'director's cut' option allows the ships to maneuver in combat rather than just sit in one place shooting at each other.
Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: Tyler on January 18, 2007, 05:27:37 PM In that case, Director's cut is good.
Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: Cpt Ryan on January 19, 2007, 11:18:23 AM my guess is that maddoc has tied the directors cut into the whole AI movement autonomy. When i used to play A1 i noticed that my ships would periodically disapear from formation, i would in turn replace them with newly built ships (thinking they had been destroyed), only to find those AWOL ships in question alive & well in some remote part of the map  .
Now in A2 you have something along the same lines, set movement autonomy to high, and your ships will go walkabout (if thats even possible  ). I liked the A1 directors cut, im not sure how much it affected the chances of your ships getting hit, but it sure as hell looked cooler B) Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: Acidpunk on January 19, 2007, 03:10:38 PM Yeah directors cut was great but there was a problem with it
with forward fire ships such as the defiant vs say a bop they would spin round forever trying to manuever they were only truely effective vs larger ships in packs but otherwise DC was great but yeah ur right ryan it was to do with the AI pathing thats what removed it from A2 and no matter what it cannot be modded back in i tried for so long and failed many times Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: RedShirt on January 19, 2007, 10:40:18 PM That really sucks. Leave it to Maddoc to screw up a great engine.
Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: Admiral Adama on January 19, 2007, 11:31:51 PM i miss a1

Title: Evasive Manoeuvres Post by: captkabbat741 on January 27, 2007, 09:24:41 PM *ahem* evasive manuvers! I think that the passive on sabers is perfect but should be spread to other ships.

Leave it to Maddoc to screw up a great engine. I'm sorry come again? :P a great engine? not quite so, the engine in a2 although fundementally the same as a1 I think had to built from the ground up, they may use the same ideas, but I don't think they were the same engine, otherwise all macdoc would need do was have created the sods/texutres/odf's and mssions, something the modders do without a paycheck and without acesss to the engine.
