its getting bloody stupid now, there posting more often then the admins do and the admins aint even deleting them, anyone think of any solutions to them? i think FO need to use the picture verication scheme now rather then just the email one cuz its getting seriously annoying...

and how long do you think til the spm bots starting tyring to sell rubbish to eacch other, now that would be funny to see...

Is thare a way maby to put in a componet that will give mibers credits 1 credit = one post per day. if a miber posts usfule information the admin can add credits if a miber posts spame credits will be removed.

What do you think doca?

and who's gonna review the posts? Doca Optec? hmm i guess both of them have better things to do (finishing v3 for example ^^ or buying a new motherboard)

and if those spammers are "real" people and not some bot then there is no way to prevent them from spamming, unfortunately

i already thought about a 'credits' feature for users where other readers vote helpful or good posts. (so no admins required) but currently i don't see real importance in it..

spam bots: they are not real people (i assume) but bots. we require image verification what will be a feature of the new board. we are not the only board experiencing bot floods lately. it's a relatively new 'technique' to spam

Well as we have seen in the past the mass of are not all wase in the right. The fact is that thare are clans that are teams of people as you know that can gang up on people be cuss of that I say admens should be abule to pick how gets creadits.

What I was thinking if if some one comes up with a good idea or shouse that thay are intrested in the mod and obay the rules the admens could click a buton that whold give than a credit.

If some one bracks the rules the admins would take a credit.

The admins do not need to add or sudtract creadits for evr post just for the ones thay chose to.

and the person who lost a credit would cry and cry until the night is over and be a whole new person. not! giving credits is a waste of time. either ban them or don't ban them. bots are sorted by the image verifier. :D

well if a mimber is fownd to have longed on under a new user name than the creds can be lowered agin its easer to lower credits than to make a new acount.

there won't be a credit system only mods and admins can vote. i will however think about integrating a credit system for all users to vote others posts and give them credits that way like it is known from other forums. but that has low priority currently..

dnt see the point, and with credits you can do what exactly? its not like you cna buy stuff with them, so credits wont make much of a dif to any of my posts, couldnt realyl care if i got one or not.... not really interested in artificial appreciation, i tyr nad help as much as i cna anyway

Yeah, our forums got a spam bot, too, but we killed it and I deleted all the threads it made. (I'm a mod there). It was a pain, but not too hard to take out.
Luckily, we only have one that works. A few other random usernames our Admin needs to clean up, but they haven't done anything at least.

i have seen forums where the first 5 pages of every category is full of spam posts. so compared to that everything runs fine here ;)
anyway, i think with the transition to the new forums these problems will be gone. i have only seen older forums (like here invision board 1.3) attacked by these spam bots

I had a feeling   those two have got alot of popularity these days. if you figure out how to skin SMF let me know I got tired of hunting down images after the first hour.

I think The only thing I can say is I am so sorry, because SMF instead of doing something simple, like keeping all the images tied to variables to be changed on the fly, rather these you have to go through every template file find the image and change it. I am so sorry doca :P

looking good though, more patience than I
