Me and Skitz aka dan just had the best 3 games in ages due to one simple fact

we limited destroyer production to 20 at any given time as ur max ammount and the games ended up with huge balanced fleets that actually looked cool and made interesting battles

I hope that others would agree to try this with us at some point

that's what I always said. Hope that devs are going to do that that option in settings.

yep this was totally AMAZING!

we reackon 1 fleet of destroyers for feds and rommy, and maybe 2 for dom and klingon cos of their dependance on em =)

we gotta try this online with lots more players, really great :P!

we just made sure we didnt do it, its not hard and actually makes the game fun when u get to see Intrepids, akiras, canaverals, Defiants, Remores, Excellsiors, Sovies and galaxies on a mass scale its great


Yeah it probs is the best way to play the game IMO you actually have fun learning the larger counters again

Well I certainly agree with this idea. The thing is tho, the Dominion MUST rely on bugs much more than any other race on their destroyers. Simply bacause of a lack of good cruisers. So I think that number should be bigger for the dominion :)

Overall a nice idea ;) :D

yeh well 2 fleets of bugs for dom would work because other races are forced to make larger ships that means the bomber will really come into its own imo.

lets see, worth trying this evening with more races and people methinks!

cool idea i'll stick to it in my games see how it works! good idea chaps!

edit - come to think of it this will free up resources otherwise wasted on mass destroyer production, it wud be nice to see this as an option in the advanced game settings bit if possible but then again that wud be for the whole game and doms n klingons wud need more than 20 destroyers i wud think

I only wish I could actually play multiplayer, now... Maybe my IP problem has changed (it changes and makes Gamespy angry).

IS it possible to incorporate rules into the actual game, or has that been asked and decided as impossible already? Or, would it become a custom setting for each race?

Man, I wish we got the source code and stuff. That would rock.

i'm sure it could be done, but i believe it shouldn't, massing is still an option, we palyed that way for a very long time and it just got boring, that's why the rules exist now.

Massing is one of the things that made me hate stock A2.  That and warp.  Because warping in a fleet of 536287 Sovriegns is just gay.

that was just chaos compared the Flops but the warp was bloody brilliant on the 1vs1 map that was divided by an asteroid field and 3 wormholes on each side :D
this idea has improved gameplay a lot but the number of destoryers allowed should be more relaxed i think. 1 fleet of sabres is crap and very limiting as well as annoying against the hordes of rheins and bops. the special has been increased but the pulse always hits when manually targeted thus the rheins and bops are fast enuf to move into range to fire quickly. i suggest approximately 25 sabres/monsoons and we can replenish them as the game progresses but obv that would use resources better spent on akiras and the like ;)

edit = or boost the power of the feds phaser a bit  :tank:
