Title: What Is A "ciadan"?
Post by: LordsofKobol on November 29, 2005, 03:09:39 PM
As all, well, most of you know, I'm not the biggest Trekkie...Now on the "Future releases" it says the "Dominion, Iconian and Ciadan" for three more races. I've heard of the Iconians and obviously know a lot about the Dominion, but what are the Ciadan?   anyone have an image of a "Ciadan" ship? I know this is kind of out of the blue, are they somthing the dev. team made up or are they an actual race that I've just never heard of?

The ciadan are a fictional race made up by the FO team, if you do a forum search there used to be a few storylines for them knocking about.

I can't find any other entires on them, but IIRC their race will only use Dilithium for ship production, and i think i remember a vague comment about them being a warrior race like the Klingons.

Jan   * Jan slaps Eufnoc around a bit with a large trout!

I love that script  Fish slaps no slaps back :omg:

How can you only use dilitium? that would make their ships made of dilithium too :omg: that'd suck, we couldn't attack them, they'd take out the entire sector  isn't dilitium like...unstable? I mean it's used to power the ships right? (Sorry, no Idea how a warp core works :P) matter anti-matter reactions and dilitium comes in there at one point...so it must explode...or something...:omg:

But that's what makes it a challange...

Nah, they probably have some mind-boggling particle acceleration tech for converting other materials from Dilithium. Either that or the dilithium is traded during construction for other things.

If it is particle accelleration (which i'm an immense fan of), then they can expect a visit from me and some "freinds"...

...We are one...

Dilitihium comes in shape of crystals.
It's used to focus the energy plasma that is created by the M/AM reaction (anti-hydrogen and deuterium).

It degrades over time, but the 24th century starfleet starships have auto-regenerating technology that realigns the crystal.

So dilitihium is far from being unstable.

So it's like the focusing crystal on a lightsaber, interesting, it focus the energy from the diatium energy cell into the emitter...hmm, thanks Commander White, didn't know that.

ok...Interesting...extreamly inefficent...but interesting, one power source for all the ships, one giant target begging to be killed :P however that'd make an interesting starbase :) "Children Playing With Bricks" in certain aspects of astrophysics doesn't work so well  Testing to see if you can destroy the fabric of the universe is not the most intelligent experiment one could make :omg:

wait...I have a question, who gave them this advanced technology? because playing with physics isn't going to create cold fusion...so how did they create all this?

well, playing around with anything might have unseen off-shoots, Technologically speaking anyway.

im gonna e iconian.  and the iconians got destroyed by there own creations i think.  remind you of anything?.  speaking of own creations.  i read a book by william shatner where spock contibuted to the creation of the borg.  it seems that voyager from the TOS movie was modified by the early borg.  HMM INTERESTING   :fish:

Isn't that Star Trek The Return.  Good Book I liked it but I think Shatner's Potrall of the borg was alittle off.

Post by: Admiral Adama on December 04, 2005, 08:59:13 PM
i dont think the borg can lie because that would be inmperfect. so the whole speal about betraying the romulans is impossible?

Title: What Is A "ciadan"?
Post by: teh-plaf on December 04, 2005, 09:04:48 PM
you don't have to lie in order to betray someone, you can just change your mind later on

It is more efficient to lie!

i think that was a flashback.  right?
and besides the queen only controls one branch right?
that would explain her dying twice
once in first contact and once in voyager :fish:  :fish:  :borg:  :borg:

I thought that they had back up copies of her lying around so if one is damaged they load up a copy of her memeries into a new body.

that's wath i thought too.

The Queen is not the "ruler" of the Borg, they don't need or have one.  She is not the Central voice, either.  She is more of a figurehead, sort of like Locutus was, except she was created, not assimilated.

Title: What Is A "ciadan"?
Post by: nine on December 25, 2005, 06:28:23 AM
she was assimilated. her voice and species met the borg's ideal of perfection, and thus she is the voice and the conduit. her species is listed in the database.

wasn't there an epsisode, donno if it was voyager or other series where it was explaned that when the queen did a temporal message was sent back to prevent her death?

Actually in the first contact, when Picard said "but u died in the first attack on earth, you were in that cube."
She replied: " you think in such 3 dimensional ways, look how small you have become"

So there she implicates that she did do some time travel :)
