Hey just wondering are the borg still going to have normal shields and have you done any thing else to them, will they be updated in time for v3 or will it wait for v4?

Yep, the borg will get a major redo for v3 which will changes booth their graphical appearance and their gameplay.

About the shields: Most probably they won't have shields anymore, but that has not finally been decided yet.  ^_^  

If they don't have shields anymore, what will keep a squadron of enemy ships from just transporting over troops and capturing random borg ships and stations? Will the borg crew count be extremely high? Just wondering.

Well it prolly will be, but thats not the prob I see. AI does transport crew always when a ships shields are down, well not always but most of the time. Maybe if there was something on the borg ships that woldnt allow this to be done? -.-

Well, Borg drones are very resistant... so how about if a ship transports 5 crew to a Borg vessel, but 4 die off and the Borg crew count only drops by 1..

i think it's more about why the ai keeps annoying us by beaming crew aboard every vessel having its shields down

Do they beam through enemy vessels if its shields are down? I didnt know..

I guess it all depends on the situation.. but in a normal firefight... I guess one would not put his shields down just to board another vessel...being vulnerable to fire..

Hmm wait... there were no shield effects on First Contact..and no shields on Borg vessles in TNG..  

there were shield effects in first contect for the starfleet ships not for the borg those. From what I understood they do have shields but they are different for the other races.
Its good to here that they are getting a update  have any ships been redid that you could show us.

to counter the fact the ai will board unshielded ships, you could increase the borg crew's strength.

I think that shuld be added to the Blitzkrieg class (or whar ever the troop ship is called), IMHO

i find it annoying when borg beam over to MY ships when the sheilds are down but MY ships don't board derelict ships whether friendly or enemy! i want to capture my enemy's ships!

i would like to see the borg without shields as its more...hmm whats the word....always bandied about never understood it....CANON! thats it its more canon! :wacko:  

well i think a borg cube wouldn't be able to operate without drones on board.. they are in some kind part of the cube

Cpt Ryan is right, the borg transported to the EE right before their sphere was blown to bits by the quantum torpedos fired AFTER going through the temporal distortion or whatever it was. There are "combat windows" in shields which allow friendly ships with the proper codes to transport through shields, send communications, receive sensor info, etc.  

it's just we never see federation ships beaming stuff or people from ship to ship during a battle, or rather they might but we just don't see it. and most of the time when stuff is being beamed, it's either a hostile ship/station whatever, or there isn't a reason for them to have thier shields rased, ie not in combat. :sweatdrop:

The simple as is the Federation's policy wouldn't be enthuthiastic of stealing enemy craft. Unlike in one of the Ds9 episodes where Sisko finds an abandoned Dominion fighter, he comments on how if it was theirs and if someone was there to say it was theirs, he would've left it...but that's by the by.

And who could take over a Cube...I'm guessing Species 8472 could. It didn't take many of their ships to disable a whole squadron of Cubes now did it? (Scorpion Pt. 1)

We do know though that the Borg have some sort of shielding. In BoBW pt. 2 when Data and Worf rescue/kidnapp Picard/Locutus they get through a "barrier". This will undoubtedly protect the ship from some sort of weapons damage before it get's thgouh to the hull.

Yep, in TNG they were said to have some kind of EM shielding, also you cant see it that well.
