not sure of the largest size, but if you do a quick "search", you'll find the

Quote
average size map 6400x8000
quoted from Eufnoc(Nieknight) from an earlier topic.
so really just go from their, unless someone has an exact figure. :)

i know the ingame ones go to 18000, the large 8player ones. i can design ones at 60000 but the game crashes when i engage the enemy units.

on big maps wormholes are a must though if you like long games big maps are quite nice too unless you have wormholes or not

i found that using FOs version of armada i can go to 45000x45000 without any problems. but i cant run them over 32000x32000 on normal armada for some reason.

We did some changes to the ODF structure and the loading hirarchy to improve performance already in beta2. Although these changes where quite minor it could affect how maps are processed.. maybe we accidently fixed that crash bug :)

@Omondon

To change the size of ur map press ctrl + r . Then you can change size as you wish. After that press ok and save ur map. Then load that saved map. Now your map should be on the size you´ve chosen. But careful, too big size may cause problems when editing or playing the map! Thats what happend to my map...i can play it but not edit it after i´ve changed some team infos -.-

Ive been having some editor problems, too.  For some reason, the F# keys don't do what they're supposed to do.

I think the limit is 50.000x50.000.

I was wondering, whether it's possible for such accomplished modders as FleetOps team to find out why there such a limit (source code?) or even raise it?

Post by: Casper on July 05, 2006, 01:54:38 PM
you press ctrl+left-click, and rename the point you just created to Camera_1, Camera_2 ect. (or am i mixing it up with another map editor from another game?)

i think it's right. well if it's not check your CD, there sould be a map making readme in the extras folder.

Check my maps (FO Map Exchange), opinions welcome.
FleetOps Map Exchange/Jarod's maps (http://forum.fleetops.net/index.php?showtopic=1166&st=75#)

Tadeja v3 (8-player map for Fleet Operations (FleetOps 3 pre))
Size: 40.000x40.000

For FObeta2 check these maps: Bystander, Betrayal v1, Tadeja, Centerfold, Challenger... Some of them get up to 50.000x50.000

Any questions?  ;)

I made a couple of test maps from 51k up to 98k, but they don' work...

ah well, no sense crying about it, i need to polish my starship (ekm: car)...
Could one fit a few disruptors on ones car?  :shuriken:

Ah, nevermind, my sovereign needs attention  :D

i don't mind whether its open spaced or not, u made great use of nebulas and asteroid fields in ur tedeja map. how about a massive map with random mining resources littered about the map, not a lot maybe about 5 of each resource and the players have to fight for em. don't have any resources behind the bases like every map has for the players to begin mining straight away. if we cant gather resources at the start of the match we'll have to be careful how we spend our starting resources. am i making much sense here?    :sweatdrop:
