When will Fleet Operations v3 be released? - you know...when it's done  :thumbsup:

So, how far is the project, what needs to be done for the final release?

The lower the number on the first two lines the more we are closer to the release of v3

system requirements will be a little higher than in beta 2, but considering that hardware also developed since beta 2 release (yea, some of you hear that their first time  :lol:) the average computer system of a gamer should have enough power, eventually more than enough to handle v3.

nah, i would give you a more detailed list, but that means for me to take up a half day on the todo scripts. a static list of what needs to be done would not work as concept, as sooner or later i am to lazy to log in each time, download, sync with optec, edit and upload again. so i think, the live todo counter is more interesting hence it's in realtime and easier for us ;)

How's it work? There a checklist of things that need to be done on the site and once one of you completes a task, you check it off and the Meter updates accordingly?

yep. the development status is up to date. it directly checks our online todo-list.
Yep some tasks are larger then the others. one task for example is the Borg-Redo :)
The Noxter Redo is not critical, because they will have their revival in an expansion for the v3 version not the final v3 release :) so we will have a little more time for them :)

Yeah, makes the Tavara quite a nice little shippy. In long battles, just send it in on high spec weaps auto and grab a few construction ships as you raid a base.

I only step in from time to time and Iam always happy to see something new.

The new ship yards are something really interesting...are they only for multiple players or can you build them in "single player" too ?

Just another question:
How is the actual stat ? How are the Borg and Dominions (Dreads and 2nd miner) doing ?

Technically no, no new RTS games where released but on the other hand legacy, tactical assault and encounters are out and well people may move on. Personally im still playing A2 cause of this mod, you have completely re-invented the game.

legacy just uses as similar file structure. that doesn't make it any similar to armada 2... still, anyway, legacy is not much a success as star trek game yet. maybe with a new patch or a very good mod. other than that, the 2 other games you mentioned are for psp or playstation 2 and are also no rts games ;)

Hello dear star trek fans and fleet ops devs!
Im new here, so excuse me for beginning with an offtopic post...  :P
I've found fleet ops a few days ago on the net when i was lookin for a decent star trek game, and it really got me! I know its far from being finished and still in beta state, some minor bugs etc. but its so great!! Game developing corporations could be ashamed that some modders actually make a lot better Star Trek RTS than they will ever be able to create... You guys rock!!
Wish i could help you but im poory like hell so no way for me to donate :/
But if you need some beta testing help, or bug testing help or anything like that, im up to it!

a very polite saying about the screen saving; my favourite is the "THIS IS AN ENGLISH FILE.txt" or something like that that sits in the root folder of legacrap. Anyway this piece of software is a "shallow" action game for young XBox360 Kids^^ or $casualGamer. For the RTS or tactic fans. it has no value what so ever; they should have ported the other games to Xbox360 and created for the Pc a new concept. To hell with xbox live! hrmph!

I don't get it...it's not an RTS game.  It never was.

And it's not a normal top down RTS game either.  It's more like a shoot-them-up space simulator.  Reminds me of Freelance, but a ST ship set in A2 (really feels like A2).

well but in Freelancer there was other stuff to occupy the player (trading stuff) Here in Legacrap there is not such a thing;

Therefore i really ask myself how someone wants to set up a ladder for it AND how the players think about that. Because right now, i haven't seen any tactic in the skirmish games; the only thing you do is spiking towards one ships and if that ship is dead you go for the next one; Targeting a subsystem? why should I? Using cloak? for what; i have to wait after decloaking to use cloak again; so can the idea to decloak, fire and cloak again; no chance. Scouts? for what? they die like flies; dammit they ruined this so much; after im done with the campaign, so long Star Crap for a long time unless some poor guys have finished and released a good descent mod;

Upon torrenting Legacy (hi everyone).

I began to tear up in one eye.

As...well, I had great hopes for Trek with this game.

The graphics were nice.
The sound was amazing.
The concept was succulent.

But, the curse of Trek Games struck again.

And for now I will be playing EVE in my quaint Drake, or X3 The Reunion.

Um?  How did we get so off topic.  I dont care a bit about Legacy.  This is a Fleet Operations development page.  We all know legacy is a second rate game, so why are we wasting our words on it?  Lets get back to talking about the AAA+ games like FleetOps.  Great Job!  Best mod Ive ever played for ANY game.  

Now to get back on track, I do have a couple of questions though.  A couple minor bugs I have noted and was wondering if there was going to be something done about.

1.  Version 2 question:  If the borg and the feds are on a team, they have a minor advantage.  the feds can keep building mobs of descent class ships and give them to the borg.  (not that the AI will do this but I had it used against me at a LAN party once.)  Im not sure if anything even can be done about this but just wanted to bring it up.

2.  Version 3 question:  has anyone else noticed the dominon are a bit underpowered?  Or maybe their research is just overpriced I dont know.  All I know is, I CANT WIN WITH THE DOMINION.  Every other race, every other avitar I can pull off at least 1 out of 3 against a hard AI (ususally 3 out of 3) but I have never won with dominion.  If Im just being stupid here feel free to rag on me.  Maybe I just suck at being the bad guy.  :lol:

My answer for your dominion question.

No, they are NOT underpowered.

You just need to set up mining stations all over and not turtle.

No turtles!

Get the ketracel synthesizer going, to get supplies and crank out bugs.

If you're breen, crank out breen cruisers and BB's.

If you're dominion T-15 + V - 11 are always good.

Dominion is actually really good.

But don't ever fight with your prototypes!

well if you would search the forums you would know that there are some large and high quality threads regarding balancing; just look for either Hypercube,-=B!G=-Black Barons or 4 of  11 posts; We had all these discussion regarding the Dominion already. I think one of the conclusion was that the Dominion lacks a good cruiser and that on small maps you might have a problem against klingon or romulans.

But really I do think the collision ability should do a bit more damage.  I mean C'mon you ram your ship into something and it doesnt even do double the normal weapon?  (normal weapon 14, collision 22)

I check in on this site every little while, and i just wanted to say quickly that i'm still really enjoying the Mod, a few monthes after downloading it  :)

I'm watching your progress-meter with great anticipation, like everyone else i'm sure, and i'm really grateful that you guys turned Armada 2 around, from a game that was a huuuge dissappointment to my young mind into something i can grin about :)

The developers of KM 1.0 for Bridge Commander used a percentage bar line to represent how close they were to completing the mod. It wasn't meant to be 100% accurate, but to give the community a general idea of the completion status.

Maybe the developers could do something similar for Fleet Operations.

...but the task count was 104 before all the tasks went down... meaning that only 8 were dropped (assuming no more were added in) even though tasks dropped from 34 to 20 in a day (a deficit of 14, you see?)  :blink:

To see the project progress page when you go onto fleetops.net means ONE click. That really is just lazy =P

Plus, for those of us who see new posts in this thread and think Optec or DocaCola might have posted something important in here, it could get a bit tedious to only find "it's down to 19!" "it's up to 21!" every time...

I definitely won't regret buying the original copy, the gameplay is much improved compared to Tiberium Wars.

mate i don't want to sound rude but your doign what i used to do.... your adding the classified to the total on the side when its a sub part of the discription... for instance, urgent has 7 tasks left to complete. 4 of them are described and 3 are classified making a total of 7...

just so you know for future reference.

I imagine it will be the Dreadnought. They mentioned that it would be acquired via mixed tech, unless this is a different unit. Now that would be a battle, a Dreadnought versus an upgraded Tavara Class, or Descent Class.....or Cube.......  :woot:

I think it is a different unit, as it does not say mixed tech unit... awhile back we had asked for a new more powerful Dominion vessel, so I think this is it (as the task was added shortly thereafter)  :D

Well when I saw it, first it was at 9 urgent tasks and 7 critical tasks (total of 16), then it went up to 8 critical tasks and 9 urgent tasks (total of 17), and now urgent tasks have dropped down to 8 urgent and 8 critical (total of 16)...
