Ah

have you namend all start location right ?

example :camera_01

i think it must be Camera_1 but camera_1 .. i think the map preview will find camera_n places, and they will be displayed correctly in the "fixed location" preview, but the game only uses Camera_n nodes as start locations.
Its only a theory, to be on the safe side, use Camera_n nodes :)

the FAQ is available here
http://www.strategyplanet.com/starmada/map...al/mapfaq.shtml (http://www.strategyplanet.com/starmada/mapcentral/mapfaq.shtml)
therefore map editing is a bit easier than in original armada 2, don't get confused

first of all, this mod is awsome!
i am also having trouble with the starting locations.  i followed the instructions here http://www.strategyplanet.com/starmada/map...al/mapfaq.shtml (http://www.strategyplanet.com/starmada/map...al/mapfaq.shtml)  but when i try to play the map, it says there are no starting locations  :(

ok, how to make start locations  B)

scroll to the position you want to make the first player start (yea)
ALT-leftclick where the start location should be. You will add a pin-like object
now doubleclick on the pin. A options dialog should pop up. Leave every setting untouched except the name. Change it to Camera_1

repeat this procedure with Camera_2, Camera_3 and so on

for performance reasons there will be a few asteroid sets which are larger then now.. so fuildic will get playable :) with this 'sets' it will be easy to fill large areas of a map with asteroid fields..
moveable asteroid fields are not planed

#1  Starting Locations

If you want to make a map with only 4 players, you have to turn off the extra starting positions.  To do this, hit Ctrl-R, and for Starting Locations 5 throught 8, on the right-hand side of the box, change SP/MP Choosable to empty.  The extra start locations at the center of the map are these extra slots.

#2  Asteroids

EDIT:  Never mind, didn't play with all the buttons yet.

and the asteroid field box / the asteroid field path won't work in Fleet Operations :)
but to save time and performace there are now so called "asteroid sets" which are complete ateroid fields you can place, which allow you to fill large asteroid areas in no time. cause armada has far less objects to calculate even fluidic (the slowest map in beta1.1) should become playable :)
