Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: BEAR285 on June 05, 2003, 03:39:05 PM HI, AFTER A FEW WONDERFUL DAYS OF PLAYING THE MOD,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,A EVIL EVENT TOOK PLACE,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,THE GAME SETS UP ALL THE WAY TOO THE DISPLAY OF THE GAME ITSELF, THEN THE SCREEN GOES BLACK, THEN I GET A POP UP THAT SAYS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,DIRECT 3D FAILURE, PLEASE REBOOT, WELL UPON REBOOTING NO JOY, STILL WONT LOAD PAST THAT POINT AND UNABLE TO PLAY
Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: Detektor on June 05, 2003, 03:54:10 PM I don't think this is a problem with fleetops , lokes like a windows problem
Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: DOCa Cola on June 05, 2003, 04:50:23 PM Yep, thats a general fault
which operating system are u using? Under windows 98 sometimes problems with memory handling occur. Try to close all applications before starting armada and check if the problem persists. Have you installed the newest drivers available for your graphics card and a directx version higher than 8.0? Look if this error occurs in other games too using directx 8 or higher. Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: BEAR285 on June 06, 2003, 12:20:50 PM well armada II without mod plays just fine...............just having problems with the mod.......0/s is 98se.................have considered other o/s but then you have the ramp up time of relearning the ins and out of the system so will stick with this for now.....will just delete the mod until you get the next gen out ,thanks everyone
Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: BEAR285 on June 06, 2003, 01:02:46 PM have updated the diretx too 9.0 but still no joy........................all basic dx checks seem fine..........all applications are always shut down when i play armada.............oh well................was a good idea at the time lol
Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: DOCa Cola on June 06, 2003, 01:04:33 PM so :)
when you have no probs with other mods at all than you shouldn't have with this one, maybe try reinstalling, just for interest, do you have an armada cd with preinstalled 1.1 patch? DOCa COla Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: Optec on June 06, 2003, 01:11:39 PM have you installed Fleet Operations over an existing armada2 copy, applied any patch after installing beta1.1? The FLeet Operations installer does everything itself, so you do not need to install any armada before.. if you have done try again in a blank folder.. this is a mistake most user do.. just as a hint :)
Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: DOCa Cola on June 06, 2003, 01:41:29 PM not all, but when they miss the screen that installing in a existing armada installation is NOT recommended :D
but it could be that sometimes the armada uninstaller fails and setup continues with any warning, that is fixed with the next beta anyway Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: BEAR285 on June 09, 2003, 05:36:45 PM okay. i was browsing through other tech forums here, and guess what,,,,,,, i seem too be having a problem very much like someones else,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,when i place any other species other than the federation..............it crashes............as long as i play as the federation it works fine......................if i select klingon it chrashes...........or any other................hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: DOCa Cola on June 09, 2003, 07:36:59 PM hehe, that was only a problem with beta 1.0 and was solved with beta 1.1. simply try to reinstall it.
Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: BEAR285 on June 10, 2003, 12:18:36 AM okay i shall try that..............too comment on other advice...............no was not loaded over a existing armada.......................was loaded as a standalone program.......................by reading the comments on the existing beta version out and i downloaded the most current,,,,that no further patches were needed that this beta contained them.............still do enjoy the game and looking forward to being able to play on line.............keep up the good work all us hard core trek fans are greatful.
Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: BEAR285 on July 26, 2003, 10:15:00 AM hmmmmmm well after two reinstalls and verification of my methods....2nd time......could play borg but not federation or klingon.......after 3rd reinstall can no play fed again but back too no borg or klingon.....sooooo any ideas guys and i guess iam confused if armada 2 plays just fine on my computer why wouldnt fleet ops......doesnt seem too make sense to make a game so sophistacted to the point that only a very small % of people who have higher level pcs can play it.....but then again i dont make em i just play em......anxiously awaiting beta2
Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: BEAR285 on July 26, 2003, 10:16:49 AM oh yeah and another intesting thing i noticed..........when it starts....it is zooomed in to the station then it crashes if this means anything........

Title: Direct3D failure, please reboot Post by: Optec on August 09, 2003, 07:07:19 PM mh, ok let's see what it could be :)
pls download logfile.cfg (http://www.borgcore.de/optec/Logfile.cfg) and put it into your Fleet Operations directory. Then start the game as normal and play till it crashes (which should be at the very beginning in your case). Thenn go to your Fleet Operations\Logs directory, where now should be a logfile. pls send me the log file (or post it here).
