Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Optec on January 04, 2005, 02:10:45 AM To take a small break from all the Dominion stuff i just decided to make a new design for one of the oldest Federation ships. The Canaveral Class. The model which is still in use was one of the first i ever did ^_^
I think i got up with a acceptable basic design but i'm still undecided were to put the nacells. Therefore i will let the fans decide! Vote now! Option A: (http://www.borgcore.de/optec/fleetops/canaveralwingA.jpg) Option B: (http://www.borgcore.de/optec/fleetops/canaveralwingB.jpg) Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: ewm90 on January 04, 2005, 02:30:55 AM i like Option A:
i whood like it more if the war engens wher not tilted at all. ,but that are both realy cool desinse. what i meen is that the warp engens are ponted tord the sides and i tthink that a need consept. but i think i whood like it a lital bit beter if thare was a whay it figer out a whay to make that poned as thay are in the ncc-1701-e. Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Overlord/Zeich on January 04, 2005, 02:36:46 AM I personally liked option A more. It looked better with it's nacells up. B)
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: ewm90 on January 04, 2005, 03:40:38 AM oe posably use a difrant look for the worp engens.
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: PREATOR DEFIANT on January 04, 2005, 07:54:43 AM They are kinda E-E looking. Maybe if they were tilted at a 45 degree angle instead of what looks like around 15-20. That or completely upwards like the Excelsior/Ambassadore where the attachment comes out and curves upwards.
That and possibly change Necel the design to look more TNG style or like the ones on the Akira. Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Thunderbolt on January 04, 2005, 02:07:08 PM Hi there Fleetops crew nice mod beta 2 here nice interesting ships way better than A2 and I can't wait till 3.0 comes out it looks brilliant the dominion looks great. Anyway I think option A would look good or maybe higher angled nacels to 45 degrees like what Preator said.
Great Job  and Happy New Year Andy Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Optec on January 04, 2005, 02:25:39 PM Thx, and Happy New Year to you too :)
Here is a new nacell design. what do you think about it? (just the nacell itself not the position) (http://www.borgcore.de/optec/fleetops/canaveralnacell.jpg) Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: ewm90 on January 04, 2005, 03:34:49 PM the thing that bothers me is that i am so used to looking at the nacell design cerintly used. eny thing uther slite chage in direstion looks off.
if you wher to make that look like thare was no top and botom to the nacell design. like in kerks enterpise or the cerint werd enterpise that whood whrk beter for puting in a side. but its ok to me as lick as thay to look like thay are ponted in the rong dirction. but i love the consept realy cool. Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Thunderbolt on January 04, 2005, 05:57:48 PM Yea that looks good it looks better than the other one, I think it looks good without the adjusted angle as the way it is
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Stryfe on January 04, 2005, 07:05:17 PM I like the new nacells. And for the positioning of the Nacells I vote for the A configuration.
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: ewm90 on January 04, 2005, 07:34:00 PM kinda like this whood be cool i did it quick but this shood give you the idea of what i am thinking.

Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Optec on January 04, 2005, 07:56:23 PM hm yep, i think the new nacell will be textured like your first idea, ewm90 :)
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: [TD]Roach on January 04, 2005, 08:38:41 PM i like option A and i liked the old caneveral design
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: d'tan on January 06, 2005, 11:29:04 PM the new canaveral design w/ option A looks like a Nova class.....I prefer the third design optec, but, it is your choice that matters.
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Acidpunk on January 07, 2005, 01:16:26 AM I voted for option B and here me out
seeing as starfleet adopted nacells that move u could add a animation to the ship to shift its nacelles for when it goes hyper impulse ? Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: RFO Cairo1 on January 07, 2005, 01:32:27 AM i prefer option A
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: admiral max on January 07, 2005, 04:39:47 PM very nice makes a change to the old one
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Crazy Moose on January 07, 2005, 06:08:55 PM I voted option A, But i think 4 of 11 has a great idea, assuming in V3 it will have hyper inpulse. I think that it would be quite easy to animate it and would look realy cool.
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Acidpunk on January 07, 2005, 06:26:13 PM thanks B)
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Lumpybob on January 07, 2005, 10:31:47 PM that would be super-cool

It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: PREATOR DEFIANT on January 08, 2005, 04:24:20 AM I think it looks somewhat like my idea. I guess.

Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: RFO Cairo1 on January 08, 2005, 05:21:32 AM dont look like it it is still sexy though
Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Optec on January 08, 2005, 04:58:27 PM Yep, cause the Canaveral has neither Hyperimpulse nor is there warp in Fleet Operations i used fixed nacells (i must admit i don't know if moving nacells are even possible to realize without the source code). But i used the idea from Preator Defiant and used "Sovereign style" nacell holders (no sharp edge between 0 and 45 degree). It was quite interesting, i think i should invite you to design polls about new starships more often :)
Well this model redo (and some gameplay redo too) did only replace the existing Canaveral. The last remaining Federation vessel is the Phalanx Class for Admiral Risner but i expect its completion soon Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: PREATOR DEFIANT on January 08, 2005, 05:28:31 PM Me? I know what makes a starship look good :D

Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: Crazy Moose on January 09, 2005, 03:44:45 PM It is possible to have moving nacels, Im working on animating a station myself at the moment but the problem i have is im a lousy texturer so i cant test my animation in game but. To have moving nacels you just have a weapon e.g. hyper impulse (i know it doesnt have it its just an example) activate the ships animation, if there is no animation i dont think it causes a problem and i also belive that the code is summat like animateOwner = 1 . Finally you have the animation in the SOD be normally off but then it would come on when the weapon was fired. Ohh and if the animation is the same length as the duration of the weapon that you can have the nacels do what you like in it. quite simple to do once you've got a textured model only problem is the textures streching.

Yep, but "speed_boost" does not call the animateowner script - shouldn't work ;-) animate owner does only work with simple cannon or launcher type triggers as far as i know Title: V3 Canaveral Design. It's Your Vote That Counts! Post by: NCC1701Z on January 09, 2005, 06:32:03 PM Option A definately, Nacells pylons in an upward direction makes the ship a lot more sleeker :)
