i'm behind a wireless router and I forwarded all the ports, however I still cant connect to internet games, does anyone know if i have to alter any ingame options or something? Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Detektor on September 30, 2004, 05:26:34 PM have u tired gamespy or manual ip ? or both ?
Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Cmd.Paul on September 30, 2004, 05:40:02 PM both, neither work
Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Detektor on September 30, 2004, 09:30:22 PM Maybe a Firewall blocks the traffic. Check that
Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Cmd.Paul on October 01, 2004, 12:58:54 AM have no firewall, just the router
Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Detektor on October 01, 2004, 07:43:41 AM But u can browse throw the i-net?
have u the same problem with other games? Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: DOCa Cola on October 01, 2004, 09:16:41 AM which ports have you forwarded?
Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Cmd.Paul on October 01, 2004, 02:28:03 PM I forwarded a port for warcraft 3, else I couldn't join or host either,
I forwarded all the ports that are in the help file Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: DOCa Cola on October 02, 2004, 10:16:45 AM only those are required if you'd like to have direct ip games
DirectPlay 8 Ports 2300..2400 UDP inbound and outbound 6073 TCP inbound and outbound make sure you have 2300-2400 defined as udp portrange. a friend of mine who should have enough knowledge about networks did exactly as stated in the help file but he couldn't host either. maybe thats related cause i have a tool installed called dxport which reduces and restricts port usuage to only a few ports of ten. Link (http://www.puffinsoft.com/) Even if it isn't stated in the compatibility list. This tool is also compatible with dxport. they have a nice forum just for port forwarding with routers over there. maybe you can get better help over there with experienced ppl in this matter. DOCa Cola Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Cmd.Paul on October 02, 2004, 10:30:12 AM i have only forwarded 2300 and port 2400, if i have to forward everyport between it i would need to manually input 100 ports :sweatdrop:
Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: DOCa Cola on October 02, 2004, 11:24:15 AM yea, thats the point, so dxdiag would save you some work. or your could try to adress a port range to forward. that should be possible on most routers. what kind of router are u using?
DOCa Cola Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Cmd.Paul on October 02, 2004, 12:41:15 PM I have a MEDION Wlan router 801.9g (europe standard)
it's a really f*cked up router since I had alot ot troubles with it I dont know if you guys know it? Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: DOCa Cola on October 02, 2004, 04:54:24 PM i don't know that router. but i know medion and i assume that this router wasn't that expensive :)
maybe it's the router i can't say, some routers have problems with many connections or much traffic, but theoretically it should be no problem to host a game with it BUT if you have other problems with it anyway, why don't invest some money in a better router and sell your old one via ebay? DOCa Cola Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Cmd.Paul on October 02, 2004, 05:12:26 PM because it's not mine but my dads
Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: DOCa Cola on October 02, 2004, 05:52:59 PM what are the other problems with your router?
DOCa Cola Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Cmd.Paul on October 02, 2004, 06:01:17 PM Suckers, dont mess up my topic, i need help with this and DOH i rebooted and DOH i rebooted fleetops, i'm not an idiot you know, and I dont bother the rest of you since if you dont want to read it then don't
but anyway anymore idea's doca cola? Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: KL0K on October 02, 2004, 06:33:35 PM got an idea...
maybe its just a no-cd patch? or otherwise altered executable? maybe that NAT in the router config is enabled(the firewall of the router or stuff like that), that f***ed up my games in the past, so i couldnt host games and so on. Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Cmd.Paul on October 02, 2004, 06:52:52 PM have no no-cd patch so thats not it, no firewall is enabled, i guess i'll have to put 2300 to 2400 manually in my port forwarding
Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: DOCa Cola on October 02, 2004, 07:51:01 PM read trough my recommandations, try dxport so you don't have 100 ports to forward but ten
btw. no need to open a new thread. topics merged DOCa Cola Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: [TD]Roach on October 02, 2004, 08:18:37 PM all i know is that gamespy always send that message about the ip change and that it might be caused by a router but that is absolutely crap as i layed online FO games without any problems. so don't take that too serious
Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: DOCa Cola on October 02, 2004, 09:40:25 PM direct ip games should be no problem with the two port forwardings (or 10 + 1 port forwardings) stated in nethelp.txt (or see above in my post) with dxport. but i'am sure your router supports port ranges too...
DOCa Cola Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: Cmd.Paul on October 03, 2004, 01:38:29 PM Quote read trough my recommandations, try dxport so you don't have 100 ports to forward but ten sorry for opening a new thread but the other one was closed ^_^ btw. no need to open a new thread. topics merged DOCa Cola allright i will try some things i just need someone to test it with and has the patience to try it a couple of times :D Title: B2 - Multiplayer - Can't Connect Post by: DOCa Cola on October 04, 2004, 11:48:16 PM it was actually never closed, but whatever. just come to the chat sometimes and check for someone who like to test/has knowledge with routers/wants to play a match with you or against you :)
