Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: Jarod on September 07, 2004, 07:32:15 PM I have a slight problem with my latest two maps called Challenger and Bystander (available in Map Exchange section of the forum).
They are both 8-player maps with set starting points for all of them... (Camera_1 .... Camera_8) The problem is, that in the game you cant select them, because they are all in the middle... I`ve been searching for the problem, but i cant find it.... Help?! Please... Darko Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: PREATOR DEFIANT on September 07, 2004, 08:49:25 PM I may know the problem but I haven't made a map in ages. If I remember what to do i'll tell you.
Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: Jarod on September 08, 2004, 07:48:45 PM I`d appreciate that...
Any think tank out there ? Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: PREATOR DEFIANT on September 08, 2004, 08:17:34 PM You did place your starting points tho right?
Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: Jarod on September 10, 2004, 06:46:21 PM The starting points are all correctly set (it seems)....
Its strange that only these two maps are giving me a headache, all the rest are working properly.... Does it make any difference if you set the starting points in the beggining of mapmaking or in the end? Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: PREATOR DEFIANT on September 10, 2004, 11:28:33 PM You should probably wait for the end, also you might wanna try deleting them and putting them back down and seeing what happens.
Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: Detektor on September 12, 2004, 07:05:56 PM u schould check the txt file of your map, all starting points should be wirtten right p ex. : Camera_1, 2 , .... , 8
next check the amount of players allowed for the map, go with Ctrl+R in the menu , check the player slot. p. ex if u want to make a 4 player map, open 4 slot for human and set 4 slots to emptey that it ;) Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: Jarod on September 23, 2004, 04:12:36 PM still no luck ...
i've redone all starting points, the problem remains... :( Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: Detektor on September 24, 2004, 08:15:11 AM then check the txt file of our map ( in the bzn directory), go to the end of the file and check if the all starting point only have 1 point (2 and more are bad)
if u got one or more starting points with more than 1 point, go to the map editor an delet the one of the two points Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: Jarod on October 08, 2004, 06:20:11 PM i solved the problem, with much anger :)
i had to completely redo all starting points ... the 2nd time all of them 1 point in the txt file, still didnt work... worked out the 3rd time.... i'm not really sure why, i think it has something to do with the way a starting point is clicked (click and immediate double click to set its parameters...) as i said i'm not really sure, it  me, so i gave it a couple days, then i kept trying... :) Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: NieKnight on October 08, 2004, 08:21:53 PM i was about to suggest that if you go crtl R on tha map (map pramaters) and select each player there and make sure they are set to somthing or other, i ain't played fleet ops in about 6 months so not realyl sure.
Title: Starting Points In The Middle? Why? Post by: Jarod on October 13, 2004, 09:13:35 PM I've discovered that it really doesn't matter if a start location has 1 point or 2.
I have succesfully repaired all my maps (the ones which needed it :) by removing any objects to close to the start point and i don't know how this worked.... i pressed CTRL + R and clicked on all 8 players (buttons) OK-yed it and saved... all problems gone :D good luck everyone oh, i released a map pack composed of 11 maps (+4 variants).... read more in the map exchange section ;)
