What do you think the coolest Star Trek ship was?

galaxy-x, prometheus, timeship, dominion dreadnought, cardassian hutet

the borg cube, dominion dreagnought, prometheus, defiant

Norexan, Prometheus, Sovereign, Griffin

Norexon rom bird of prey and new orleans

intrepid, defiant, achilles, soverign, nebula, gal-x, and exelsior

I like the achilles, oberth, new orleans and Excellsior

Constitution refit, Miranda, Excelsior, Sovern and Norexan.

defiant, akira, souvereign, d'deridex warbird, borg cube and sphere, Bird of Prey

No Contest. The true D'deridex, complete with crew of 15,000 sailors and marines, massive energy torpedo launcher on the nose, (didn't two or three of those blast cruisers apart?) and rapid-fire pulsed disruptors powerful enough to slag a destroyer in seconds. And of course looks awesome.

If crew is scarce it's tough to beat the Defiants, with a weapon power / size ratio 10 times greater than the Fed Battleships. Looks awesome too : )

Incidentally the Norexans were developed because D'deridexs were so friggin expensive and crew intensive, more for planetary invasions and coercion than straight deep space combat. The Norexan disruptors are more powerful, but it lacks the energy torpedo of death. So not counting the Borg due to gross ugliness the D'deridex is the "best" ship if best is most powerful.

as u say it, im missing the rapid pulse disruptors at the d'deridex here in fleetops... *thinkin*

My personal Favorites are D'deridex, Norexan, Achilles, Promethus.  I believe the dominion dreadnought is more powerful than a D'deridex.  

Hm, what does the Achilles look like? Can't remember seeing one...

Does anyone remember the DS9 episode where it took a dominion battleship like ten minutes to blow the USS Valiant up? (Defiant class). I know it was stupid DS9, but still, unless the dominion has amazing shield generators (and their bug destroyers have crap for shields, another DS9 episode a Fed runabout blew one away) a Warbird would smoke it into ashes with the energy torpedos, unless it ran out of energy first or something : )

But I'm willing to accept that in a non-DS9 environment all those white torpedo launcher things on the Dom ship would turn stuff to ash pretty quickly.

I am glad to see the topic i started didn't blink out of exsistance while i was in York, Maine. :lol:  My personal favorites are the Defiant, Excelscior (Standard), Ambassador, Galaxy, Klingon K'tinga class/D7, Negh'Var and of course the Constitution Refit.

in Reply to the Power of the Romulan Warbird, between the Fire power of a Warbird and Negh'Var I'd go with the Negh'Var in a heart beat.

D'deridex Warbird:
6 x Class 21 disrupter cannon, total output 65,000 TeraWatts

first off I would like to state that the dasctrom instute is extreamly incorect in many values and has no ofissial follow up second a d'derix has plasma torps THE MOST POWERFUL WEPON IN STARTREK  :omg:  ha ha ha ha ha! and is powered by an artifical quantom singularaty (or tiny black hole) third off a d'derdix has 2 singel shot high energy puls disruptors rapid fire beam and puls disruptor bank and a r type plasma launcher in the front and in the back x4 beam disruptors I am not shure of power out put but a singel r plasma can turn cronum to crap ha ha
not to mention the fed had to run to survive a singel blast cupel that with enceratibly powerful dis ruptors hmnm it is hard to see if a space dock can actuly defeat one a war bird is truly a WAR bird! ha ha ha the romulan empire reings supream as is said in st 47 sig

Norexan--Not a intimdating as the D'Deridex, but far more deadly
Sovereign--beautiful, fought the Scimitar surprisingly well
D'Deridex--intimdating, Romulans main ship
Excelsior--cool looks, we see lots, was biggest gun of it's day

I do love TMP ships but they lack the colors of the TNG ships. [Red bussard collectors, gotta love them] But i  am glad to see my thread has sewn it self into something greater. [i need to die for that last pun :lol: ] i still think the klingon ships are really awesome and it seems people have been negelcting to mention them. TELL ME! :blink:  

i just like the roms ships more, cause of the huge, green stylish forms... klingon ships got too much edges for my opinion... and i dont like the klingons that much, after they joined the feds, they are like a guard dog... :huh:

i like the rushin hugo gets the wert gas mileg not safe uncofterbul looks bad but its got a cool bumper.

o and my fave star trek ship is i whood have to sayncc 1701-d its asom the rom war berd is cool to so miny ships so lital time whats a woman to do o what i am a man upss.

fyi the d'derix has about 1200 and is twice the size of the galxy pluss the derdix makes up 70% of the Rom fleet and their is a cople 100,000 of them

aha, no. In all my trekkie-ness i would say the defiant is out gunned 3 to 1 by a Soverign Class.  ^_^  My flagship would Probably be a Galaxy Class though.  

ah, but the galaxy is a very big target, especially for suicidal Jem'Hadar (remember the Odyssey?). i know the sov is just as long, but the galaxy beats it for width. hell, the deflector dish might as well be an enormous bull's eye. you better have a trigger happy tactical officer in one of those things.

but they are the cadillacs of Starfleet come to think of it...

Bulls eye eh? I think i would have a major refit of my personal Galaxy class. Assuming i was a fleet admiral i could probably do it. Not like the X but i would have the Voyager Armor from endgame around the Bussard collectors and the Deflector dish., :omg:  

the Galaxy class also has a 360 degree weapons coverage, the odysee fired a few phasers and that was it. It pisses me off you never see a galaxy class fight to its full potential, the only time was BOBW on TNG.

Meh, best ST ship IMO would still be the Excelsior (Original or Refit). Seeing the Ent-B glide from the shipyard in Generations, or the battle between the Lakota and the Defiant in DS9 (in which the Lakota OWNED the Defiant :D) was amazing.

Or the Nebula class, perhaps (i'll say 3rd place). Nice big multi-purpose ship. Romulan D'Deridex too, for the same reasons (2nd place).

It's a good looking design, and I think the Lakota woulda won if the writers haden' made it possible for the speed of the Defiant to magically make every shot from the Lakota miss.

i find that i like the older round soucer style ships better, you know Gal and previos.

The swan like appearance of the galaxy class does apeal to me, I would have my own custom galaxy proabably.

the soverign is better than the galaxy because its design eliminated one key flaw. the goose-neck between the sauce section and the stardrive section. you shoot that out, and the entire ship breaks in two and blows up! KABOOOM!!!!!!

I heard from STAR TREK: THE MAGAZINE that the Soverign can actually seperate in the same fasion as the Galaxy Class. B)  

a seperation part for a galaxy or soveirgn so pointless, the seperation cycle is slow and a soveirgn isn't a luxury cruise ship like the galaxy where they have families and stuff on board, it's more of a warsghp so what is the point of a separation except a poor excuse not to use escape pods  when the core explodes

Sovern can't separate, for one I have never seen a game or something that says it can. 2, I think Picard would have done so in Nemesis.

As John Eaves designed the whole Enterprise-E and as the drawings are genuine drawings by John Eaves, I would say: "Yes, the Enterprise-E is supposed to have saucer separation capabilities."

However, it's always in question if something that has never been in an episode ore movie is canon or not. That depends on your personal point of view, I think.

OK MJP, you're right I see. But I think the ability to sepertate the saucer-section was made in an early stadium of developing the Sovereign and they just thought "Why not make an article in the Star Trek magazine about it. It will interest the Fans."  

i cant agree, if you coudl see the entier atricla you would understand, also if you read the section of text i have there you see that the ship is to have souce seperatoin.

Note the last sentence cant not be sadi to be cannon becouse it was not said by any one in the ST franchise, BUT also note that the model was made to look seperatible. that is cannon.

I would like to see your proof as you ahve not given any. all you say is that there is lack of proof that seperatoin is true...but i have given the proof.  

Theres no proof showing it has separation and all the proof needed to show it cannot separate. Have you ever seen a game where it can separate? I'm guessing no, therefore chances are it can't separate. You seem bent on a hope that is all but impossible. Resistance is futile, canonism will prevail.

Have you ever seen a Defander class in game? or the nebula variants? if its in a game or not dose not count souly alone, you must take into account all the arias of the franchise.
