I'm getting a new computer!! I can finally play FO now!!
I think my dad wants a statndard comp, 2.8 Ghz, 512 RAM, 128 Mb VRAM but it will be sure hell enough to run FO..... right?????
If not, I'll get my dad to get a 3.2 Ghz, 1Gb Ram, and 512 VRAM

Both of those comps should be able to run fleetops with ease, but make him buy the better one anyway  ;)

With the way new computer technology is, you have to buy the latest stuff if you want to be playing on the same computer for over 4 years without needing a new one sadly.

But my dad thinks taht the only purpose of buying a state-of-the art computer is to play games, but my dad still thinks that its the 70s and students should study till their brains explode, but psh, its 2004!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well with such kinda pc u r probably able to play fo and any of the most games in max details 32bit and a resolution above 1024*768... so all i say is "have fun" :D

Yeah BC in a high res isjust........................ wow... and I never found out how good FO is in a high resolution quality, my comp crashed LMFAO..

i got a copy and all most beat it its much easer for sher. ans for the game its self the grafics are good the game mishons are cool but i seem to get bord of it quick. it need some thing more.

I recommend both BF 1942( MANY GREAT MODS) and BFV(NAPALM!!!), raven shield, C&C Generals + expansion (a few good mods too), SFC3, Vice City, and download Americas Army.

Thats some of the range of games I got on my comp, there all good too, you wont ever be board again.

Em I recomend Rome : Total war, it should be for sale any day now :)

i played both EF titles, and im through with it, but the storry is cool, its like u play an episode of star trek but a bit longer, cause of an 8 hours or more storyline, and it got 2 (not really different, but 2) end-sequences :D

sfc3 is kinda boring, after some time, but its kinda fun the first days, too :)

nah, there´s a basic registration as well, i dont pay anything and got an account there with the same name as here ;)

btw: if u got an gamespy account, u can lock into gamespy(or the tool gamespy arcade) and browse around there to get it as well

My dad wants to buy a 17 Inch Flastcreen LCD Moniter, you think its a good idea..? because sint LCDs the displays from Laptops where yu cant see the mouse properly and etc?

Nope, LCD are practaically the same as CRT monitors these days, but of course thinner, lighter,...

But how about quality? is LCD better than CRT?

Well all LCDs are flat, but now so are some CRTs :) , well in my opinion LCD has a better picture, well many people still have CRTs and thats because CRTs have faster responce speed, and they are especially popular with people who play alot of FPS because of the fast action :) . But take it from me, if u buy a high quality LCD u wont notice any difference  :)  

is a $500 (Canadian dollar) flatscreen LCD moniter good enough?

I pesonaly recommand you CRT Sony or Samsung flat monitor.  There is no monitor that can give better picture then that 2 can. And factor costs/quality is on CRT monitor's side.  LCD are too expensive and don't yet give that good picture.


And one piece of advise. Buy very good monitor because that's the part of computer that you are allways watching. It must be very good. :D

XP professional, xp home is a so called "lite" version, without one or another feature.. and when u get it, try to get the servicepack 2 at the shop or the internet, and always update it with the integrated updater... to fix some things and keep your drivers up to date at the manufacturers site of your mainboard, sound- and graphic card :)

Well of course CRT monitors are cheaper, but LCDs DO have a better picture, the problem with LCDs is as I said response speed which really isnt all that important if your not like a professional Quake or Unreal tournament player. And there is another problem with LCDs on some of them u cant see a good picture under a certain angle, but in the good ones these days it isnt that much of a problem B)

So if u can buy a quality LCD screen, because it IS better than CRT but of course its more costly. ;) Oh and LCDs dont mess up your eyes, while CRTs do that :D  

SP2 suks, it kills norton antivirus, mcafee, ...

complete bullsh*t...i got the service pack 2 installed here, since the beta versions, and i got norton Antivirus 2004 and there is no f***in problem with it..

try to get xp professional...but its no broken leg when its just home at the end when ur dad buys it...

u mean mcafee has personal firewall and it is quite useless

I got norton, I don't use the firewall but besides that it's a good program.

personal firewalls are programs that simulate security without any improvements of the same thing... try google and u will find websites that tell u why..

Is XP profesiional suitalbe for game and internet use?

i was a betatester... reported some bugs and stuff like that... i think it should be somewhere on the MSdownload section..(try the search function on the site of MS) actually not at the update site available, but that comes in a few weeks, i guess its not launched everywhere localised, cause of some problems with thirdparty programs, but that will be fixed soon as well.

SP2 got some nice features:
-popup blocker for IE6 (blocking sites that popup, activeX scripts blocking and stuff like that)
-WinXP gets a nice feture called "security center" where u can see windows new integrated firewall and networksecurity options, a list of supportted antivirus programs and a possibility to let ur system update automaticly when a new patch/fix is out there

yes it is, u got not that much improvements, but fewer bugs and security lacks.

xp home or pro will do the trick i use home no compants. ashaly i like it beter i think it uses less ram that can be used by uther apss like fleetops.

i dont know the difference at all if their ressource intensce or not.. cause i always got xp prof. since i formatted my new pc the first of 4 times in 2,5 years( it would be 2 times at all, but once cause of a hdd crash and another day i shot down my registry as i modified/tuned it)...

but i know sp2 is useful ;) :)

well just thinking wit comin sins if a os has more stuff it need more stuff to run it.
