Hm.. i like Starcraft.. also i don't play it anymore, the story still is wonderful.
I don't know if you would call it scifi, but UT2003 also is a nice game for multiplayer.

But the Fighter Battles arent good looking and sometimes it takes just too long for Ships to get across the system i can understand the way they did it but the Attack patterns are too Predictable

hmm, there is an winxp fix for ra1, and i heard it works, but i have never tried.
i think u just have to install it under win98, change 1 or 2 files, and the u can play it under winxp.

anyway, there's a version which u can play under winxp called MiniRA ^_^ ,
but there is only skirmish mode and no cd's are needed.
there are 2 versions of it, but the second doesn't work on my pc, i dunno why, it says something wrong with the internet files for it

get MiniRA here (http://ra.afraid.org/?s=extra&p=minira) :)

i agreee RA 1 was the best C&C, Tiberian sun got to complicated and you could never build a good base with out it bieng missle atacked or ion cannoned and i have evry C&C version, and with the aftermath expantion RA 1 it was definatly the best. RA 2 gets too complicated although u can turn off super weapons and the efects are nice and u can play it on windows xp RA 1 is the ONLY reason im still using 98 when i have the option of going to XP. Generels i just got and the original one was too crappy. although it was a hit for N64, ughh havent heard that word in a long time. and redalert didnnt do so well on the consol although it was released od play station. Renagade is in a completely diferent area so it cant realy be compard.

But for sci-fi i would say star wars galactc Battlegrounds, the clone campaines expantion.

yeah, i'm sure ra1 is one of the best c&c's but if c&c 1 had a skirmish mode, it would be best. ;)
one of the most things i hated in tiberian sun were the hunterseeker drones, because u can't defend against them and that sux..... :(
ra2/yuri's revenge are still cool, nothing bad to say about. :)
and generals, hmm, it has no real cnc-style but to play the 3 different sides is nice and the game is a good assumption(?) for big TC mod's :)

but my favourite is renegade, to play online is so damn funny, that i can't hardly stop

i'm not so keen on tib sun but i love red alert 1&2

Title: Other sci-fi games
Post by: cts006 on August 30, 2003, 07:41:49 PM
Tib sun was okay but the damn WMD's were not planed good no misstle defence no ion cannon defence and no hunter seaker defence. now ra2 ones can be damaging but theres a shield defence and u can turn them off. Boink hes ded!!

Let me warn ya here you have to dl 9 files that are .rar files and install them individually. Long process, but worth the wait.

you could use winrar (winrar homepage (http://www.rarlab.com/)) to open or decompress it. it is a archive file similar to *.zip files
